Nancy Lent Lanoue, Watercolor Artist

About my art:

I have lived in Vermont all my life and never tire of the state's beauty. I am surrounded by apple blossoms in Spring and  emerald mountains in the summer. By Fall, dazzling maple leaves brighten the horizon before snow drifts carpet the hills and valleys. Endless hours spent in this setting since childhood in South Strafford, VT are expressed in my paintings.  Often, farms and small towns appear in my images with forms, colors, and moods combining in harmonious and contrasting ways.

Background:

My first art teacher was my father, Harlow Lent,  My favorite hobby when young was  drawing and painting.  Formal training includes two years as an art major at Blackburn College and a concentration in textiles and design at the University of Vermont. Following graduation from college I worked for a sportswear company in Manhattan and took courses in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology while there.  After that a major detour into health promotion and community development happened.  About twenty years ago I started taking art classes again, mostly in watercolor.  Since 1997 I have studied steadily by attending courses and workshops, especially with Peter Huntoon, and Bill Lambert  I currently study with Peter Granucci of Gilsum, New Hampshire. I love to paint and I never stop learning!
